ubuntu13.10で、ソースからコンパイルしてみました。
$ git clone https://github.com/JuliaLang/julia.git
$ cd julia
$ make時間がかかるので、バイナリでインストールするのが良いです。
i7-3770でコンパイルをすると、40分程の時間が必要です。
